12# butterfly wings make better solar cells. Response

Really interesting. But I wish that there would be more and new information to write about in my notes. I Really hope to learn more about this subject.

12# butterfly wings make better solar cells. Notes

Butterfly wings can absorb a lot of sun light which warms them up if it gets cold. Putting the dye-sensitized and butterfly wings idea together made it's efficiency to collect light 10 percent more higher than the regular solar cells.

Final focus; further research needed

I want to know more about the solar plant that is going in Mohave desert. What will they do with the solar panels? Will they be in rows or stacked up on each other? My final focus is solar panels in the Mohave desert. I always wonder how they where going to protect the solar panels from the desert sand.

10# Solar Energy from Butterfly Wings? Response

This article was really cool. It's kind of surprising that they would use butterfly wings as a way to improve solar cells. No one would expect to find the way to improve solar cells in butterfly wings. I really hope to learn more about this in future articles.

Nice job!

Some fascinating information in your notes and responses!!! Great work!!! Mrs. Jewitt

10# Solar energy from Butterfly Wings? Notes

The Japanese and the Chinese are researching better ways for solar cells to collect energy from the sun. They found that the answer may be in butterfly wings. Butterfly wings have their own solar cells. They also discovered dye-sensitized cells. The person who invented the dye-sensitized cells Micheal Gratzel. They did testing on both of them and found out that the solar collecters on the butterfly wings collected more effecintly than the dye sensitized.

#9 California ISO Symposium Sheds New Light on Integrating Solar Power response

I think putting solar energy in the desert is a great idea because the solar cells can collect a lot of energy that way. With a solar energy plant in the Mohave Desert well be closer to having greener planet. It's great that solar energy is becoming more popular and getting different technology.

#9 California ISO Symposium Sheds New Light on Integrating Solar Power notes

Solar energy companies is growing more and more to the point that in no time it will be competing with regular energy. They used what the learned from wind power and re going to use some of it to help with solar energy. "The Mohave Desert is one of the best places in the world for solar thermal energy, "said Senior Director of Transmission Bob Stuart. The desert will be a gvreat place for solar panels because the is a lot of space and light energy. Solar energy vary because of the weather. Like when it's cloudy the energy you get isn't going to very strong.

8# Newest members of solar system: Cars. Response

It's great that they made a solar fan. Hope they make more things that relie on the sun. It would be cool if they made powered trains and airplanes, though that might be a ways away.

8# Newest members of solar system: Cars. Notes

Toyota next generation of Prius has the option of solar powered electric fan. It will be a while before we give up gas stations and run on the power of the sun. "There simply isn't enough area on the roof of the car that faces and receives the sun's rays hitting it," says Bradley Berman.

7# solar promoters push recycling as path to double green response

It's cool how already they are thinking of recycling in solar panels in Europe. I hope America is doing the same thing because it will help the enviorment. It's really good thing to know that we can recycle solar panels now too. I really enjoyed this article and I hope that I will be able to read more articles like this.

7# promoters push recycling as path to double green notes

The solar industry in Europe are recycling pieces of the solar panel as to reduce what goes into the trash. 85 percent of the solar panel is recycled. The companies voluntarily will collect the models since 1990. "We will only be able to say that solar energy has become truly sustainable when the life cycle of photovolt models is closed, allowing industrial use of recycled raw materials necessary to their manufacturing," said Jan Clyncke." That is what we mean by 'Making the photovolt industry Double Green',"said Mr. Clyncke.

I think this is a wonderful topic for you. While I agree with Mitchell that certain groups of people are making a enviornmentally safe planet almost impossible, I also think that it's an incredible goal. Through my research I've discovered that NASA is developing a hydrogen powered jet engine for use on commercial airlines. That might also be a good topic for you to branch out to if you are interested. Keep up the good work!

Alexis I thought your blog was very insiteful and had good reasons to solar energy. The only problem that I had is that the article didn't have a title to it. But, that would be easy to fix. Your blog is also very organized and easy to read.

I think it's awesome that they are making a car that runs on solar energy. I wonder how long it will take to make this car? Because this article didn't say. It's great to know that the company's are using solar energy.
Toyota Motor Corp is a leader in green technology and they are currently working on a car that only uses solar energy to power it. It may take a long time before that happens. Toyota use solar energy to power the place they work. The amount of solar energy they use is enough to power 500 homes and it equals up to 1,500 barrels of oil. It reduces 740 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

L.A. solar power and plan so that it will clearer so that people can understandwhat they are voting for. I think it is a good idea to have solar energy to provide enrergy to the city.
Department of water and Power thinks it can use solar power to help provide energy for L.A. L.A. would be able to avoid running transmissions lines across sensitive ecosystems. L.A. that plan has some questions about plans and especially to how much it will cost. There are fears about how much it will cost and will it cost much higher than anticipated. A reporter called this plan extremly risky.

The ecomeny is bad but solar energy can help with energy costs. It's interesting what solar energy can do. I wonder how solar energy will change as time goes on. Will solar energy be able to help everyone anbd help stop glabal warming?
Even though economy is bad, solar energy company is doing a lot of business in Calf. 45% increase in solar energy systems in 2007 over206. More than 3,400 companies have something to do with solar energy and employ 25,000 - 35,000 people. Future outlook looks bright, estimate there will be 110,000 solar energy jobs 2016. Consumers are looking for no pollution (Carbon Emissions) reduce foreign oil dependence and save money. Thermal collectors convert suns energy into heat and electricity that can power things. Government subclass can help people use solar energy.

Dalton Response 2

You are doing really good on the notes and the responses and you have really good info and allot of new articles.

Alex Second Responses

I thought that the blog was good. I learned a lot from reading the blog i think that you have an interesting topic. I like the facts you put on there. I like the blog and i hope to read it again soon.

Mitchel's response

Many of the new ways people find of making energy are shot down by the environmentalists. Like, wind mills in the desert. The wind is always blowing and that would make tons of energy, but the environmentalist would say "O noes! The birds will fly into the mills and die! :(" so there are no real ways to get around them criticizing us for "Global Warming"<--Big quotes there.

But I agree that solar energy is very effective and should become popular in the near future.

Some good information . . but cite your sources!

Title each note post with the title of the article! Where are citations for your two new articles?

Those are really cool goals for the future. I wonder what will win in Italy as the best energy source, coal or solar energy. I would chose solar energy even if there was not a lot of sunlight because there are to really bad out comes to having coal as energy. One is air pollution that cause lots of other problems. Two would be the cost for keep using this energy source and which can add up to lot unlike solar energy that only costs not very because its a natural source.
In Germany people are switching solar energy. Some experts say that more people will buy solar powered things than in the recent years. In Italy, two years from now, solar energy and coal will be competing because high energy costs and amply sunshine. In 2020, 2.5% of European electricity consumption will be by solar energy

I learned a lot about this article. Solar energy will slowly become more an as time goes on. It's amazing how that solar energy can power large citys. I wonder what cool type of techknology they will make that uses solar energy.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Solar energy can power cities. Solar energy is good for the envoirment. Solar energy is very reliable. Solar energy is expensize now but as time goes on, ssolar energy will be more relided on and the prices will go down. At first solar energy is bad because it needs energy to get started but then after a year it will be producing energy.

I did't know that there were that many solar homes in the use the U.S.A.
There are 40,000 solar houses in the use and soon to increase. "Green homes 'save money month in, month out'". Arizona, Florida, California and Washington state are planning to build solar communities. As the economic outlook worsens solar homes increase. Some Americans are starying to swicht over to solar energy.

My top I am researching is solar energy. It will keep my interest for the 5 or 6 months to come.
There is a lot of things going on right now because of economy and the increase of money on peoples electric bills. There will be information coming in all the time. Tracking this will be fun.
It will be easy to find information because it is something that is going on right now. People are starting to realize that there is a problem going and if this problem continues it might destroy our world.
There will be a lot of information on this topic because solar energy is a very current thing. The switch from regular energy to solar energy is starting to be coming more frequent.
This topic will keep my interest for a very long time. I t will make me view it in different ways.

I think that this topic is a very good one because, when you have to interview someone that knows about solar energy it will be easy, because in Bristol there is a Solar panel installer that you could interview. I think that this topic will give you loads of info

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

You seem to be very interested in your topic. Any topic reguarding technology would be perfect because there is a need and rush for energy harvesting and saving technology. I've seen many ads on TV for energy effecient light bulbs and such. So I think your solar energy topic will carry you into mid-april VERY easily.

Bens Responce

Nice subject, I agree with the fact that in the future we might need to use solar energy. Mabey you should make it an even biger topic with the other ways of energy, such as wind power? In 8th grade my science teacher made the class study, Mars Hill. Its a wind power thing going on in Maine. Im not positive what mountain there working on, you should check it out.

Topics response

Your topic seems to be very intersting. Maybe a good place to get some information on this topic is maybe go to the Climate Action Club, in our school. I'm sure that you would learn some useful information there.

Monday, October 27, 2008

My three topics are depression in teens, the effects of global warming on the ocean and solar energy.
I researched these topics because I thought they would be interesting and they’re things that are going on right now. I thought it would be interesting to know because the world is changing. It would be good to know about solar energy because it can help stop pollution. Learning about the global warming in the ocean will help people learn about how to stop it. It would be good to learn about depression in teens so that we ourselves don’t become victims and to learn about how to help people who are the victims.
MAS-Ultra is a very good site to visit, looking up solar energy. I had to trouble finding information on the other things. The other sites I had trouble finding things. I found a lot of information on solar energy.
I found four things on my subject. I found them all in MAS Ultra. The information will be good for getting started on my work. The information is on solar energy they are very informative and some the information tells how by changing to solar energy it can make positive impact on the environment. It also cost less and it won’t cause a lot of stress as with other methods of getting power to your home, which you get stressed when the bill arrives.
In conclusion solar energy may not be a bad idea when are lives may depend on it in the future.
